Mikie Sherrill Plans To Launch 'Portal' For Uploading Videos Of Ice: 'Get Your Phone Out'
New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill announced plans to create an online portal allowing residents to upload videos and images of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity in the state.
Sherrill made the comments during a national TV appearance, encouraging residents to document what they see. “If you see ICE, get your phone out,” she said, framing the effort as a transparency measure.
The portal is intended to help the state track federal immigration enforcement and review interactions for potential civil-rights concerns. Officials say details on privacy, verification, and launch timing have not yet been released.
Supporters say the move promotes accountability, while critics warn it could fuel confrontation or confusion about residents’ legal boundaries. Filming law enforcement in public is generally legal, but interfering with officers is not.
The portal is not yet live, and the administration says more information is coming.
