According to Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, firefighters were called to a blaze at 286 14th Avenue around 6:18 a.m. on Sunday, November 30.
The flames quickly spread to neighboring homes at 288 and 290 14th Avenue, triggering a three-alarm response and bringing more than 110 firefighters to the scene. Crews were able to knock down the main body of fire by 7:32 a.m.
No injuries were reported, but the damage was extensive. More than 50 residents — including 14 families — are being relocated, officials said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Newark Department of Public Safety’s Arson Unit.
