MYSTERY IN ELIZABETH: WOMAN FOUND UNRESPONSIVE ON SIDEWALK, INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY

Authorities in Elizabeth are investigating the death of a woman found unresponsive on a sidewalk early Wednesday morning, city officials said.

Elizabeth City Spokeswoman Ruby Contreras stated that the woman, believed to be in her 60s, was discovered near an apartment building in the 600 block of East Jersey Street. Concerned community members alerted police after noticing her lying motionless.

Officials have yet to identify the woman, and a preliminary examination revealed no immediate signs of foul play or an apparent cause of death.

The investigation remains active, but as of now, the Union County Prosecutor's Office has not confirmed its involvement.
