NEW JERSEY 'TREADMILL ABUSE' MURDER CASE

NEW JERSEY 'TREADMILL ABUSE' MURDER CASE

The trial of Christopher Gregor, a New Jersey father accused of causing the death of his 6-year-old son, Corey Micciolo, has commenced. Prosecutors assert that Micciolo died from blunt force trauma inflicted when Gregor forced him to run on a treadmill, as evidenced by surveillance footage showing Gregor escalating the treadmill's speed, resulting in the child falling off multiple times. Defense attorneys, however, contest this interpretation of events.

During the trial, Christopher Gregor's lawyer, Mario Gallucci, stated that medical experts would testify that the child's death resulted from sepsis caused by pneumonia, distancing it from the treadmill incident. Despite acknowledging the disturbing nature of the surveillance footage, Gallucci argued that it wasn't connected to the death, which occurred about two weeks later. Prosecutors highlighted the child's extensive injuries, including contusions all over his body and lacerations to his heart and liver. Gallucci attributed the bruises to the treadmill and playing football. Testimony proceeded throughout the week and is set to resume the following Tuesday. In addition to the murder charge, Gregor also faces a child endangerment charge related to the treadmill video.
