South Jersey Sixers and Flyers fans just got their first look at the teams’ planned new arena in South Philadelphia.
The arena is expected to open in 2030 on the former Spectrum site and would become home to the 76ers, Flyers and Philadelphia’s WNBA team.
New renderings from Populous and Moody Nolan show outdoor fan spaces, restaurant pavilions and a design that pays tribute to the old Spectrum.
The teams say the privately funded project could create nearly 15,000 jobs and generate close to $6 billion in economic activity over 10 years.
There’s still a long way to go. The final design, arena name and other details haven’t been announced, with the teams planning more public engagement as the project moves through the approval process.
For now, 2030 remains the target.
