SOUTH JERSEY SCHOOL BUS DRIVER ACCUSED OF TRANSPORTING STUDENTS WHILE UNDER INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL
A South Jersey bus driver employed by the Clayton Public Schools District, Suzanne Stoms, was arrested on Friday morning for driving under the influence of alcohol while transporting elementary-aged students to school.
Stoms' boyfriend alerted the police about her condition, leading to a traffic stop where she failed sobriety tests. She faces charges including endangering the welfare of a child, drunk driving, and reckless driving. Parents expressed outrage, prompting the district superintendent to assure that affected students were safely transported by a substitute driver and announcing Stoms' termination. Stoms is set to appear in court on March 21.
Police say Suzanne Stoms' boyfriend tipped them off that she may be transporting school children while intoxicated.
