Sterling Shepard, a receiver for the New York Giants, expressed gratitude to fans and the organization in an emotional Instagram post, bidding farewell after spending his entire eight-year NFL career with the Giants. Although not confirming retirement, Shepard acknowledged the likelihood that his recent game against the Eagles was his final with the team. The Giants honored Shepard during the game, with special introductions and recognition for his achievement in passing Jeremy Shockey on the franchise's all-time receptions list. Shepard, visibly appreciative, reflected on his time with the Giants and cherished the moments in what appears to be his last game with the team.
“Forever grateful to the New York Giants organization, past and present teammates, and the incredible fan base for their unwavering love and support over the past 8 years,” Shepard wrote in his post.
“New Jersey, my second home, will forever hold a special place in my heart. Thank you for embracing me with open arms and making me feel like family. Once a Giant, always a Giant!” Sunday marked the last time for him with Giants as he stated: “I knew that this was probably going to be my last time being in this jersey,” Shepard said after the win. “I just wanted to take it all in with my brothers and enjoy every moment of it, and that’s exactly what I did.”
