A Toms River man has been indicted in a January crash on Route 37 that killed a 76-year-old township resident, authorities said.
Jamie P. Doyle, 40, was indicted Thursday by an Ocean County grand jury in the Jan. 23 crash that killed Ronald Bucher, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said, according to Patch.
Doyle was indicted on charges including aggravated manslaughter, vehicular homicide, strict liability vehicular homicide and driving with a suspended license while involved in a crash causing death, authorities said.
Bucher was crossing Route 37 south on Romana Lane when his Chevrolet Trax was hit by a Nissan Maxima driven by Doyle, prosecutors said. Authorities said Bucher had the right of way.
Investigators said Doyle was traveling 106 mph five seconds before the crash and 65 mph at impact. Prosecutors said a blood test later showed PCP and MDMA in Doyle's system.
Doyle remains in custody pending trial, according to the prosecutor's office. The charges are accusations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
