The Devils acquired 24-year-old forward Luke Evangelista from the Nashville Predators, adding a young playmaker coming off the best season of his NHL career.
Evangelista put up 56 points — 12 goals and 44 assists — across 81 games last season. New Jersey sent Nashville a conditional 2028 first-round pick and its 2028 second-round pick in the deal.
Speaking Thursday about the move, Evangelista admitted the trade caught him by surprise, but said he’s excited about the opportunity in New Jersey and the feeling that the Devils wanted him.
