ATLANTIC CITY MAN FACES 12 YEARS IN PRISON AFTER ARMED ROBBERIES AND JAILHOUSE ASSAULT

Atlantic County authorities announced that Majid Harris, 23, of Atlantic City, pleaded guilty on Wednesday, January 22, to two counts of first-degree armed robbery, one count of second-degree possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose, and one count of second-degree aggravated assault.

Under the terms of his plea agreement, Harris is expected to serve 12 years in New Jersey State Prison, with approximately 10 years and 2 months of parole ineligibility mandated under the No Early Release Act and the Graves Act. Upon his release, Harris will be placed under five years of intensive parole supervision, officials confirmed.

According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office (ACPO), Harris committed two armed robberies in Atlantic City in late November 2023. On the evening of November 25, Harris ordered food delivery to a location in Atlantic City. When the delivery driver arrived, Harris robbed the individual at gunpoint, stealing cash before fleeing on foot.

Four days later, on November 29, Harris repeated the crime using the same phone number to order food delivery from a different store. When the delivery driver arrived, Harris once again held the victim at gunpoint and robbed them under nearly identical circumstances.

Although Harris disguised his face during the robberies, Atlantic City Police identified and apprehended him after reviewing surveillance footage and tracing the phone number used to arrange the deliveries.

After his arrest, Harris was detained at the Atlantic County Justice Facility, where he participated in an assault on another inmate. According to authorities, the victim was beaten unconscious during the attack.

Harris is scheduled to be sentenced on March 25, 2025. His conviction serves as a reminder of the county's commitment to holding violent offenders accountable, officials stated.
