ATLANTIC CITY SHOOTER SENTENCED TO 28 YEARS FOR BOARDWALK KILLING
A New Jersey man will spend nearly three decades in prison after pleading guilty to a fatal shooting on the Atlantic City Boardwalk in 2023.
Jahlil Boston, 35, pleaded guilty to first-degree aggravated manslaughter and was sentenced to 28 years in New Jersey State Prison. Under the terms of the No Early Release Act, he must serve 85% of his sentence—approximately 23 years and 8 months—before becoming eligible for parole. Upon his release, Boston will face an additional five years of parole supervision.
The charges stem from a deadly incident on March 18, 2023, near Margaritaville on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. Investigators reported that a 34-year-old man was shot and killed on the 1900 block of the boardwalk. The victim, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Surveillance footage captured the shooting, enabling investigators to quickly identify Boston as a suspect. Authorities apprehended him later that same day, finding him in possession of the firearm used in the killing.
Boston’s guilty plea to aggravated manslaughter ensures he will serve a significant portion of his 28-year sentence behind bars, reinforcing the county’s commitment to addressing gun violence and protecting public safety.
With Boston’s sentencing concluded, officials reiterated the importance of community partnerships and technological resources, like surveillance footage, in solving violent crimes.
As Atlantic City continues its efforts to curb gun violence, this case serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of such acts—and the determination of law enforcement to ensure justice for victims and their families.
