NORTH BERGEN COP BUSTED: 130 HOURS ‘ON DUTY’ AT HOME 🍿👮♂️
A North Bergen police officer has been arrested and charged after investigators say he spent more than 130 hours at home while still on the clock.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Internal Affairs Unit announced the arrest of 27-year-old Officer Rasheed Siyam, who was charged with third-degree theft by deception (false impression).
The Allegations
Prosecutors allege that between November 2024 and May 2025, Officer Siyam repeatedly returned to his residence during scheduled work shifts. Instead of taking standard meal breaks, he allegedly stayed far longer than permitted—accumulating over 130 hours off the street while still being logged as on duty.
Investigators say this pattern of misconduct amounted to a deception against the department and the public he was sworn to serve.
Arrest and Court Date
Siyam surrendered at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Jersey City, where he was formally arrested. He was later released pending his initial court appearance, which is scheduled for September 29, 2025.
What’s Next
The case remains under review, and further disciplinary action within the North Bergen Police Department may follow depending on the court outcome.
If convicted of a third-degree crime in New Jersey, Siyam could face up to five years in state prison.
