HACKENSACK, NJ β A violent confrontation between teens in Hackensack ended in a stabbing β and now both sides are facing charges, authorities say.
Police responded around 3:00 p.m. Tuesday near Banta Place and State Street, where a 16-year-old was found with multiple stab wounds.
He was rushed to the hospital and is now listed in stable condition.
Investigators say the situation started earlier near Central Avenue and Union Street, where an altercation escalated quickly.
Authorities allege the 16-year-old pulled out a machete and swung it multiple times at 18-year-old Joaquin Morris Jr.
Thatβs when Morris allegedly pulled a knife and stabbed the teen multiple times in the torso before fleeing.
π After the investigation:
β’ The injured 16-year-old was charged with aggravated assault and weapons offenses
β’ Morris Jr. was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and weapon possession
The juvenile was taken into custody after being released from the hospital, while Morris Jr. was arrested the same day.
Authorities say the investigation is still ongoing.
