New Jersey Shore Towns Could See Minor Flooding at High Tide Tonight

Some New Jersey shore communities could deal with minor flooding Saturday night, July 11, 2026, as evening high tide pushes water onto vulnerable roads and low-lying areas.

The National Weather Service office in Mount Holly said a Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 11 p.m. EDT for parts of the New Jersey coast and areas near Delaware Bay. The advisory says up to one foot of inundation above ground level is possible in low-lying spots near shorelines and tidal waterways.

The warning includes coastal areas in Atlantic, Cape May, and Cumberland counties. In its Saturday afternoon forecast discussion, the weather service also said Monmouth, Ocean, and southeastern Burlington counties were added for the evening high-tide cycle as water levels continued to trend higher.

Forecasters said the flooding threat is expected to stay in the minor range, but that is still enough to affect the most vulnerable roads in shore and bayside communities. Some partial or full road closures are possible, especially around the evening high tide.

The same forecast discussion said minor tidal flooding could continue with the evening high tides on Sunday and potentially Monday as onshore flow and higher astronomical tides continue building toward next week’s new moon.

Drivers are being told not to leave vehicles in flood-prone spots and not to drive through saltwater or floodwater-covered roads. Conditions can change quickly around high tide, even when flooding stays below major levels.
