Three boys who were reported missing from a New Jersey train station have been found safe in Connecticut following a multi-state search, authorities confirmed Saturday evening.
According to the Montville Township Police Department, 14-year-olds Brayden Morrissey and Dominic Diliberto, along with 17-year-old William Connolly, left an undisclosed location in Montville Township on Thursday night.
Police initially launched an extensive search using K-9 units and drones before determining the boys had voluntarily left the area, shifting the investigation to a missing persons case.
Investigators later confirmed the trio was seen at the Denville Train Station around 5:30 p.m. Friday. On Saturday afternoon, officers with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) located the boys at a train station in Stamford, Connecticut.
Authorities took Connolly into protective custody, but the two 14-year-olds ran from officers. A short time later, both Brayden Morrissey and Dominic Diliberto were safely located in Stamford.
Montville Township Police Chief Andrew Caggiano said investigators believe the boys left on their own accord.
Officials have not yet said when the three boys will be reunited with their families.
